We are in pursuit of balance. We have been given this great life to live, but it has this way of controlling us. The details of life can control us, it can lead us, and can take us away from who we truly are meant to become. This is what makes Jesus so amazing to us because his desire is to make us completely human. He wants to rid us of this condition of being a slave to sin and instead lead us to be adopted children. He wants us to understand what it means to be made in His image and how wonderful it truly is.
Yet, this life is going to be imperfect. It is going to be filled with highs and lows. It will have seasons of fruit and seasons of pruning. It seems like 2011 is going to be a season of pruning for us, and hopefully this pruning will produce fruit. We find ourselves in the midst of pursuing balance, but ...
I don't want to mislead. I am not talking about hurried scheduling, out of control spending, or any of the other trappings that we fall into (which we have). This is a balance of not relying on ourselves, but leaning into God. It is a season of understanding what it means not to perform for him, but allowing him to be our grace.
